Ferraris medical provides comfort for new parents with the RE200 APNOEA Monitor

Home
The Ferraris Medical RE200 Apnoea Respiration Monitor provides reassurance to parents worried about the dangers of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, (SIDS) with a reliable and accurate system, which sounds an alarm should your baby stop breathing. The monitor is extremely sensitive and is ideally suited to babies of low birth weight with shallow breathing. A facility is also included to detect large breathing movements, which typically occur prior to convulsions.

SIDS is the sudden and unexpected death of a baby for no obvious reason. Matthew Tee, Managing Director of Ferraris Medical Ltd commented, “Ferraris Medical has developed the RE200 Apnoea Monitor to provide reassurance to parents desperately concerned about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Even though the number of babies dying from SIDS has reduced from 22 to 7 per week during the last decade, it is still vital that we continue to work to reduce this figure.”

A flat pressure sensitive sensor pad is placed under the mattress in an incubator or cot and picks up respiration movement over a wide area. The sensor is of no danger to the child as it never needs to be in contact with the baby’s skin and can be easily handled and cleaned without fear of damage.

After a lapse of 10 to 15 seconds without breaths, a loud pulsating alarm is activated immediately summoning assistance and resuscitation. If breathing recommences a memory LED light appears to indicate that an apnoeic event has occurred.

Housed in a strong durable plastic case, the Ferraris RE200 Apnoea Monitor uses only a single battery with a normal life of one month and comes with an extension socket allowing the alarm to be placed in another room.
